Tension as Prisoners Protest Ban of Marijuana

There was tension in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, on Friday as inmates of the Abakaliki prison protested the ban of Indian hemp by the prison authorities.

 

The protest led to prison officials sealing off the FMC Road leading to the prisons.

Although no casualties were recorded, Premium Times learnt that the inmates calmed down after the state Comptroller of Prisons, Adaobi Oputa, held a meeting with their leaders.
